About Hearing, Hearing Loss and Hearing Aids

Hearing loss occurs to most people as they age. Hearing loss is the single
most common birth defect in America, and hearing loss among older adults is the third most common chronic ailment.

Hearing loss can occur due to aging, exposure to loud noise, medications, infections, head or ear trauma,  congenital or hereditary factors, disease  processes and many other causes. In 2006, the USA's population has been  estimated at 300 million, and of those, approximately 1 in 10, or roughly 31  million people have hearing loss.

Research has clearly shown, hearing loss negatively impacts quality of life, overall health, personal and professional relationships and of course, your ability to communicate. It has been estimated that some 90 to 95 percent of all cases of hearing loss can be corrected with hearing aids.
